Located in the picturesque hills of Matheran, Karjat, this project aims to address the lack of shaded spaces at a local school that hosts various activities. The Wadi neighbourhood has taken an active role in financing the school’s development, reflecting its vision and dedication to educational progress.

The village, predominantly comprising a labour community, depends on this school for the education of their children. In response, the entire community has come together to support the project, contributing funds and resources for its completion. Residents and non-governmental organisations have generously donated supplies.
When designing the school, we focused on simplicity and speed to meet the community’s immediate needs. The architectural approach includes two classrooms with versatile activity areas designed to encourage engagement and adaptability. The building’s form exhibits a simple yet functional design, enhancing its ability to efficiently accommodate both educational and extracurricular activities.
